Every other platform in this trade says the same sentence: Türkiye to the United Kingdom. T-shirts. Here are forty suppliers. Meet them.
Small companies saying what they are looking for, what they are offering, and what is going wrong this week — each in their own language, each read by everybody else in theirs. Nobody learns a language. Nobody hires a translator. The agent does it as they type.
What you say gets matched. You can look at who you were matched with, and at how they actually run their business, because they post it. And you can talk to them without either of you having a name until you both want one.
Straciłem 4 200 € na suszonych morelach, bo w formularzu została pusta rubryka o dwutlenku siarki.
Written in Polish
I lost €4,200 on dried apricots because the box on the form about sulphur dioxide was left empty.
Je cherche un fournisseur turc de t-shirts en petites séries. Quinze jours maximum, commandes répétées.
Written in French
I am looking for a Turkish supplier of T-shirts in small runs. Fifteen days maximum, repeat orders.
Elimizde Ne 30/1 penye pamuk ipliği var, Denizli. Küçük partiler de yapıyoruz, Avrupa’ya sevk edebiliriz.
Written in Turkish
We have Ne 30/1 combed cotton yarn, out of Denizli. We do small lots too, and we can ship to Europe.
Twenty seconds
Argan oil in Morocco, and New York says it will take the lot. Cashmere in a Himalayan village, and Bristol asks for two hundred to start. Then Istanbul, who can move both.
Each square is closed and quiet, and into each one arrives a voice from a country its trader has never sold to. That is the whole product, shown three times without a word of explanation.
The square
ExampleNot listings. A listing is a price with nobody behind it. These are people saying where they are, and every one of them names the person who ought to answer.
Fifteen-day lead times, small runs, repeat orders. One buyer speaking is worth twenty sellers listing, because everyone who can do it comes to her.
Not “competitive prices”. Combed twice, sun-dried on the roof, cut with the grain. A claim you can test is the only kind worth posting.
The buyer who went quiet, the empty box on the form, the market that stopped answering. This is the post that gets the most replies, every time.
Language
Language is the reason a mill in Denizli sells to the same three buyers for eleven years. Not quality, not price — the fact that a conversation with a buyer in Sfax or Gdańsk costs him an afternoon and an agent he does not trust. So the agent translates every post, every reply and every question as it is written, both directions.
What is on the screen above is deliberate: the original is kept on top, in its own script and its own direction, with the translation under a rule beneath it. Show only the English and it looks like everybody already speaks English — which is exactly the assumption that keeps small exporters selling to whoever happens to speak their language.
The traders
ExampleA handle rather than a name, and that is what makes browsing safe enough to allow. Read a profile, watch how someone works for a month, reply twice — and neither of you has given up a phone number. Names arrive at the handshake and not before.

Every figure on those cards is counted from shipment records, never typed in by the trader. The moment a record becomes a self-description it is marketing, and this whole page is an argument against taking marketing at face value.
Their posts
ExamplePhotographs and video from the floor: the second combing pass, day four on the drying roof, the slab still wet off the saw. People already make these — they are on WhatsApp and Instagram, where no buyer will ever find them.
The creel, mid-runThis is the second combing pass. Most mills do one and the yarn looks identical on the cone — you find out the difference on the customer’s third wash, which is far too late for both of us.
Drying trays, day fourDay four on the roof. A tunnel would finish this by now, and it would taste like it. We turn them by hand twice a day and the colour you are looking at is what sulphur is normally used to fake.
Off the saw, still wetStraight off the saw. Look at the direction of the veining against the cut — go the other way and the slab will crack inside a year in a warm building. Nobody tells you this when they sell you stone.
Four machines, a TuesdayTwelve machines and my father’s name over the door. I am never going to be the biggest. I want six buyers who order every month and remember my name.
Bottling, by handWe bottle to order, not to stock. It means I cannot ship you a pallet tomorrow, and it means what arrives was pressed this season rather than the one before it.
Cool store, shelledThird buyer this year agreed a price and went quiet the moment I asked for the advance. I am not angry about it. I want to know whether this is me, or whether this is just the year.
Said, and answered
Left is the square. Right is the platform underneath it. Neither column is worth much on its own, which is the whole argument for one product.
“I lost €4,200 on apricots because one box on a form was left empty.”

Ask the desk what that route needs before the container moves: the documents, the duty, the VAT, and the thing that actually stops it at the border. It answers, or it says it does not know.

A buyer asking out loud is worth twenty sellers listing. Suppliers close enough to do it answer you, and you never gave anyone your number to find out.

Before either side speaks, both get a report on the other: how long they have traded, how many shipments are on record, which markets they actually ship to. Anonymous, and drawn from records rather than claims.
Party report
“On every other platform the freight companies drown out everyone else.”
Marble · Afyon · 17 min
Freight sits on its own floor. Forwarders bid there, against published lots, and never into a room of buyers who came to talk about goods.
Separated
